Coughs in Children

Do not give Aspirin to Children under 12 – it increases the risk of Reye’s syndrome, a rare brain and liver disorder
Very little can be done to prevent colds without a developed immune system, though it is important to minimize the risk of infection by keeping your children away from infected friends and family.

It is also important to make sure your children eat a good diet, of fresh vegetables and fruit, to make sure they get the recommended vitamins and minerals they require each day.

Always make sure that any cough/cold remedies that you give to your children are suitable for their age. Read the box, and do not give more then the recommended dosage.

Children under 6 can get up to seven colds a year, and the symptoms are explained here. If your child’s temperature goes above 102F, then the chances are that your child has the flu as apposed to a cold.

Remember! Keep your children away from cigarette smoke; it can cause sore throats, as well as the other affects of second hand smoking.
